On the hunt again!
I have now just completed the photo shoot for the next local press release.
The next press report will be going in the Malvern Gazzette and Ledbury Reporter.
I know I have traced most of the local paintings that Gwilym produced, but I've just got this feeling that someone out their will have maybe another Malvern Hills or a local cottage waiting to be discovered. The paper will go to print on Friday the 29th October so lets hope it brings in some results.
I have also just received an e-mail from a very king gentleman called John Pritchard.
John new Gwilym very well from working in the goods in department at Rolls Royce in Shrewsbury. John went on to say how he had great conversations in Welsh with Gwilym, and how Gwilym always had a painting or two in his van. Lets hope that some of the local employees that worked at Rolls Royce managed to find the blog and get in contact.

News Just In
I have now had an article about Gwilym placed in the Shrewsbury Chronicle. The article was requesting anyone with Gwilym's paintings to get in contact. The paper has been out for about a week now, so far I've not had any response from the people of Shrewsbury. I have however noticed a lot of people viewing this blog who live in Shrewsbury (was this you?), so lets hope that maybe they own a painting and will be in contact soon. If you have not seen this article then please feel free to have a read at the following:

Malvern Hills

Gwilym loved Wales, but never forgot Malvern.
During the years he producced numerous different versions of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire.
I have spent a month or so visting family members (and new found freinds of family members) to obtain photographs for this blog.

The images below are just a few of the high quality oil paintings that Gwilym producced.

The next painting below is now owned by myself. It sits pride of place on my landing wall outside my bedroom.
I believe it is one of the last versions of the Malvern Hills that Gwilym produced before he became ill. Even with a shaky hand and not so good eyesight, he still managed to paint a masterpeice.

Latest landscapes and seascapes.

News just in!
I have also managed to locate numerous land and sea images.

Gwilym also painted lighthouses as seen on the left.
Great time and detail also went into these.

The picture to the left is of Paris Mountain, which sits just behind the campsite where his caravan is today.

Welsh Artist

So far this year!

The 2 paintings below, are now hanging in pride of place in my front room.
After my last outing to Anglesy I made a quick stop at the Oriel Gallery in Cemaes.

To my great delight he had 6 of Gwilym's paintings, so I could not help myself, I had to buy 2 that I fell in love with.

This year I visited Anglesey to pay a visit to a very kind person that I had met on a forum.
After a long treck around a building site (he was having his house done up) I managed to locate him. He managed to point me in the right direction of a person that also had commissioned Gwilym to do a painting. A short ride up the hill and around the corner, I managed to locate the house. After explaining who I was, they invited me into the house. A few more very kind words were said by them about Gwilym, and I was led to a back room. As I walked into the room, I could not believe the size of the painting on the wall. It looked like Gwilym had stuck 4 normal painting boards together to produce the one fantastic scene.

The painting on the left is now owned by a local art enthusiast living in Almwch.
He attended a local auction and bought this painting for just £25.00.

I payed him a visit whilst I was on holiday, and he was able to also give me contact details of another family that had also some of Gwilym's paintings.

After a short drive down the road, I managed to locate the family that he had been referring to.

The story is that they used to live in the house next door, until work had to be started on it because it had become run down. After this work had been completed they asked Gwilym to produce a painting for them.

Gwilym produceed the above oil painting of an old house in Cemaes.
This year I made a vist to the local art dealer in that area, and to my surprise he had the oil painting in his house. He offered to take me on a small trip around Cemaes to locate the house as it stands today. The picture below is how it stands today, they have built on to the building as you can see, but you can still make out the detail of the sea and shoreline in the background.

The image below is another painting owned by the local art dealer.
It is of another local house right on the harbour front.

I intend to visit Anglesey again to obtain another photograph of the house as it now stands today, as I think it would be nice to also compare two pictures as well.

Ships and Menai Bridge

Gwilym has also painted numerous ships and different versions of the Menai Bridge.
I have managed to located the paintings below.

I'm very interested in trying to locate who owns the first ship painting on the left.

I believe the ship was one that visited Anglesey often. I'm not sure of it's name, so if anyone had any further information, I would be very greatfull.
